What to expect when you go for a testosterone test?
The ideal time to get your testosterone tested is in the morning between 8:00 am to 10:00 am. This is when testosterone levels are at their peak.
A medical technician will draw blood from one of your veins (usually the vein in the crutch of your elbow). It’s as simple as that. You may feel a prick from the needle or a pinch but nothing more than that. Now all you need to do is wait for the lab results. This may take 1 or 2 days.

The funny thing with testosterone levels is that “normal” depends on individual factors. There are health factors, age and other concerns which doctors take into consideration when determining whether your testosterone levels are healthy. In some cases, medication you are taking may affect your testosterone levels. But in normal circumstances, it is suggested that the normal level of total testosterone in men should be between 270-1070 ng/dL (9-38 nmol/L). The free testosterone should be 50-210 pg/mL (174-729 pmol/L).
If you have low testosterone, the doctor may do some further test to know whether the testicles or the pituitary gland are malfunctioning. These are the organs that produce testosterone.
